I Earned $2 from 2 Years of Writing Online

Why I'm not a failure

Whenever I talk about writing with others, the first question would be, “Cool! How much money are you making?”

When I say, “I don’t make any money. I just treat it as a hobby. People often give me a weird look and move on to the next topic.

I’m not making any money, so am I a bad writer?

Nope! Making money from writing is not for everyone.

Yes! Everyone loves to earn something from what they passionately do, but to be honest, if you focus too much on money, then it will become a job or business, not a hobby anymore.

If you feel you’re a bad writer and keep reading endless articles on topics like “How to Create a Stunning Headline” or “5 Strategies to Earn $100 a Month,” then please stop doing it today.

You can’t steal someone’s strategy and make it work for you.

Most days, it fails. Instead, create your own voice and style for your writing. It takes time, but trust me, it will work in the long term.

Frank Sinatra:
1,200 songs, 209 hits (17%)

Babe Ruth:
8,399 attempts, 714 home runs (8.5%)

Pablo Picasso:
150K pieces, 1,170 hits (0.7%)

90% of their output is NOT popular… keep going.

I read this on the internet, and I don’t know how precise the statistics are. But one thing is clear — even the most celebrated talents across the world produced a vast number of works, but only a fraction of them got widely recognized.

So, writing 10 or 100 articles and not earning anything doesn’t make you a failure.

Keep writing about topics you’re interested in, and don’t care about the results.

You never know which of your posts will go viral — no one predicts that not even the person offering $1,000 courses.

So, does that mean you don’t need to take any writing courses? No! Spending money on knowledge is not a waste, but thinking it’s the only way to grow is wrong.

For beginners who have just started their writing career, read a lot, and engage genuinely with other writers — you will get inspired.

Thank You! Have a great day!
